Trying out My Elizabethan Hairstyle

I gave my design to my assessment partner to practice during our lesson. To make my design look contemporary, I wanted to see how my hair looked once it has been backcombed. We tried one side of the head using the backcombing technique but because my hair is so thin, it didn't cover the padding very well and kept dropping out.

My design had the V shaped parting at the front with the french plait down the middle and the padding either side. I liked how this turned out because it made the lines from the parting more visible.

I put a simple bun at the back and it does look very simple and quite boring so I will think about adding some accessories to it to make it look more exciting.

My model created my bun before adding in the plait so it is sticking up. Next time, my model will finish the plait off earlier so that she could incorporate it into the bun.

On the other side of the head, we backcombed part of the hair over to create texture but I also adapted my design to use the frizzing technique. Not only is this another element in my design, it also helps to cover the padding. I prefer this look as I think because of the unusual parting (rather than it being in the middle) it still looks quite contemporary.

Overall, I am really pleased with my hair design as I have lots of elements in there and I like the plait down the middle as well as the V-shaped parting. I will adapt it by incorporating some accessories such as pearls down the middle of the head or even in the padding.
